BrandBacker: One Direction Makeup - Electro Glam Mascara, Liquilights Glow Gloss & Rock Me Nail Kit

Recently, I received new One Direction makeup kits to review, specifically their new mascara, lip gloss, and nail polishes. Check out the rest of the blog to see how they turned out!

First thing I tried out was the Liquilights Glow Gloss. According to the brand:

Liquilights Glow Gloss sparkles brilliantly during the day and illuminates under UV black light after dark. Enriched with natural oils and vitamin E to keep your lips soft and hydrated all day and all night.
Gloss can be worn alone for a pop of sparkle and color, or paired with One Direction crème lipstick for a bolder look.

Through the Dark- Electric glitter poppy lip gloss that glows to neon red-orange under UV light
Taken - Powerhouse glitter pink lip gloss that glows to neon orange under UV light
Kiss You- Orange glitter rush lip gloss that glows to neon yellow under UV light
Top: Through the Dark
Middle: Taken
Bottom: Kiss You
(Top and bottom picture tests "Through the Dark". Top: less light shining on face. Bottom: direct light on face)

This gloss is in the shade "Through the Dark", which appeared to me as a sheer rosy color (most closely resembling the top photo). I found this to be surprisingly very wearable and could see myself wearing this out and about, if I was in a lip gloss phase (but right now, I've been in a matte lipstick type of phase). But, let's rewind back to high school when I was obsessed with lip gloss. Then I would definitely have this in my purse ready to swipe on.
The below photo is me in the shade "Taken", and can be mistaken with "Through the Dark" but upon closer inspection, it is a slightly lighter pink.
Below, I am wearing the shade "Kiss You", which I was scared to put on and thought would be my least favorite. Surprisingly, it was probably my favorite of the glosses because of how wearable it is! In the bottle it appears neon orange, but once on the lips, it's the perfect nude gloss. Of course, they claim to be a different shade altogether under UV light, but since I don't have access to such equipment, I won't be worrying about my lips appearing neon.
When I first got this set, I did not have high expectations. First off, One Direction...makeup...? And at first glance this lip gloss set seemed tacky by design and definitely catered to teeny boppers obsessed with the band (I myself am not a Directioner), so I thought the actual product would be extremely tacky and appear terribly bright and unwearable. As soon as I glided the product on my lips, I was instantly surprised. They went on like any other lip gloss I've tried, whether it was drug store or high end: smoothly, and felt light. On the lips, they didn't feel heavy or like I was wearing cheap makeup for teens. The product felt moisturizing, but of course as a gloss, still somewhat sticky which is inevitable of a gloss product. There is shimmery glitter in the glosses, and is apparent when you remove the gloss, because some glitter remain on your lips, but it isn't so overbearing that it bothers me.
Next thing I tried out was the Electro Glam Mascara. The description according to the brand:

Give your look a jolt of electric colour, with this limited-edition trio of ultra-bold coloured mascaras for hair and lashes, in three heavily pigmented, buildable colours.
FOR LASHES- Make a subtle statement by adding a pop of colour to the tips of your lashes, or add coats to your entire lashes for a shockingly chic look. The more the better!
AS A HAIR MASCARA- Apply to small sections of hair and swipe through for instant ELECTRIC highlights.

Why don’t we go there- Shock of blue
Does he know?- Pinkest hot pink
Story of my life- Amped canary yellow
Left: "Why Don't We Go There"
Middle: "Story of My Life"
Right: "Does He Know?"
I actually did not try this out as a hair mascara, but I definitely will give it a try the next time I want to experiment with my hair! As a regular mascara on the lashes, I was quite surprised. I didn't know what to expect for colored mascaras, as I've only ever worn black mascara. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but I didn't think I would be as impressed as I was.
As I applied the mascara onto my lashes, I was surprised by how smoothly it went on. And that I had NO clumps! Then the pigmentation of the product was surprisingly opaque and I could easily see the bright blue and hot pink from a far. It adds just a subtle pop of color to the eyes, and I'm sure it would be the perfect cherry on top for any concert makeup. Unfortunately, the yellow (not pictured) did not apply as smoothly or successfully. I had to apply it several more times than the blue and pink to allow the yellow to show at all, and evenly on my lashes. Plus, there was a bit of clumping that I did not experience at all with the blue and pink.
A cell phone selfie for ya ~ quite fitting for this makeup look, as I'm sure this generation that would don this product are cell phone selfie pros.
The last of the make up kits I reviewed was the Rock Me Nail Kit. According to the brand:

ROCK ME NAIL KIT, featuring NEON UV-REACTIVE Nail Varnish and UV-REACTIVE GLITTER nail toppings that add even more sizzle to your mani, for nails that light up day and night.
Sprinkle the glitter over wet polish for a subtle accent, or go for the glitz and dip your entire wet mani in mega-watt sparkle!

Nail Varnish:
Happily– UV iced blue glitter
Moments- UV neon pink
Diana- UV 3D holographic

Glitter Toppings:
Kicks- UV snow cone blue
Not afraid- UV electrified pink glitter
Star-- UV holo glitter
I'm a nail polish fiend, so I was excited to try these out. I was also ecstatic to see that glitter was included because glitter can be a great way to subtly spice up a manicure. Currently, I'm wearing "Happily", a bright cobalt blue, with "Star", a silver glitter, on the tips of my nails. A base and top coat are essential for any manicure to seal the deal, and have kept my concert ready nails in tip-top shape. The polishes applied smoothly, but since they were transparent with one coat, 2-3 coats were necessary to get the opaque, bright blue. Overall, the polishes were standard, but nothing outstanding. I wish they were more opaque so I didn't have to apply it so many times, but maybe it was the effect from being UV-reactive.
In the bottom picture, the glitter on the tips of the nails was achieved using the silver glitter nail polish in "Diana".
