Career and Internship Fair

Oxford: Forever 21 || Sweater: Old Navy || Blazer: Forever 21 || Jeans: Old Navy || Watch: Target || Boots: Forever 21

I decided not to bring my resume and just check out what the fair was about. Decided not to dress too formal or too casual, and kept it mixed. Dressed serious up top, casual on bottom. Played around with the layers to accommodate with the fluctuating weather today.

Companies I approached at my school's Career and Internship Fair: CustomInk, UNIQLO, TJ Maxx

As a first-year, I wanted to just take a look at what companies were being represented and what I should expect in the future fairs. I felt the competition and energy from the young students ready to enter the work force. Those who were serious about talking to the corporations were dressed in business formal attire and had their briefcases, binders, and resumes all ready to impress the business representatives.

While listening in on a conversation with an applicant and a UNIQLO representative, something the representative said stuck to me. What these large (and also not so large) corporations look for is not just experience or what major you are in, but also leadership, such as if we were in a leadership position in a club or organization. I have always found this as a rewarding experience, as I have been in leadership roles throughout my high school life. This small, yet vital, piece of advice I overheard definitely has me more motivated to find a club, organization, or group that I am passionate about and to continue to stick with it and possibly even rise through the ranks during my stay here in college.

[Oddly enough, these clothing-based companies share a "red" theme.]

    1. Thank you Kate! Too bad it got too hot early in the day, so I had to lose a layer.
