Last Day. Finally.

Blouse: Anne Klein (flea market from Clothes Encounters) || Jeans: Forever 21 || Sneakers: Forever 21 || Watch: Fossil || Hair bow: DIY

As of today around 3 AM, I officially finished my first year as an undergraduate when I emailed my last paper to my professor. Now for the burden of packing and unpacking my stuff...

Definitely excited for what's to come this summer. As always, I have a list of what I would want to accomplish before the school year starts again. Hopefully I actually act upon them and finish at least half, if not the whole list.

Several more hours before I get picked up. Definitely excited to see family and friends, and to sleep in my own room. Oh the luxury of solitude.

Fancy Schmancy

Blouse: gift || Scalloped shorts: gift || Khaki blazer: J. Crew (thrifted) || Watch: Fossil || Purse: Forever 21 (gift) || Studded flats: Nine West

June 9, 2013

Went out for my organization's board dinner. Since the year was coming to an end, many of my dresses were already back home. I decided to change things up by not wearing a dress to this semi-formal event, but creating that effect without seeming out of place or too casual.

I've seen this tactic done a few times on different blogs and Youtube videos, and I've always wanted to try it out myself, but I never had the right pieces to put together. Until now. I took my too-long-for-a-shirt-but-too-short-as-a-dress sheer, pleated blouse and layered it over my white scalloped shorts. The pleats flowed over the top of my shorts, and the lace detailing of the shorts allow for the illusion of a one piece dress.

Since the dinner was at night (well, yeah, dinner time, night time...unnecessary self-explanations going on), I covered myself up with a khaki blazer to maintain the neutral tones throughout the outfit. Wore my black flats with silver studs and a white quilted purse to finish the look off.

My dinner of seared ahi tuna salad. Delicious.

Lace on Lace

Top: Abercrombie & Fitch || Cardigan: Forever 21 || Shorts: American Eagle Outfitters || Belt: Forever 21 || Gladiator sandals: Nordstrom Rack

June 7, 2013

Lace on lace in attempts to keep myself cool, while biking around down town and on campus in the almost-triple-digit temperatures.

Blushing Navy

June 6, 2013
Tank top: school club's design || Bandeau: Charlotte Russe || Jean jacket: Levis || Shorts: Kohls || Gladiator sandals: Nordstrom Rack || Watch: Fossil || Hair bow: DIYReppin' Design with this tank top created by one of the design organizations on campus.
Kept this end-of-the-week look playful, simple, and casual with hints of bright colors, my handmade hair bow, and my trusty denim jacket that instantly pulls any look together.
Remember, nothing wrong with your bra peaking out! Just make sure to do so smartly (don't want any fashion mishaps)! Here I wore a strapless bra and wore a bright pink bandeau over that. Extra support and keeps it looking more conservative, while still keeping the look colorful and put together.

Don't worry if you can't handle your bandeau peeking out during these summer months. No need to dress too outside of your comfort zone (definitely took a while for me to think this look was ok, without feeling uncomfortable). But definitely try to challenge yourself in other ways in creatively changing up your outfits this summer, and do NOT let other people's criticisms prevent you from dressing the way you want.

Top or Cardigan?

Collared blouse: Forever 21 || Tank top: Forever 21 || Denim shorts: Cotton On

May 31, 2013

Always fun to play around with pieces in my closet. Using my collared blouse in a different way. Instead of usually buttoning it up closed, I utilized it as a feminine, sheer cardigan over my more masculine, tough tank top. Clothes are versatile- never feel constrained or restricted. Get creative.

Candy Sweet

Dress: Nordstrom Rack || Blazer: Forever 21 || Flats: Nine West || Head band: Forever 21

May 29, 2013

Dressed up brightly colored for my organization's candy themed banquet. Did a bit of DIY to my headband by attaching a strawberry plushie.

Spring Time Uniform

Blouse: flea market || Jean jacket: gift || Shorts: Aeropostale || Watch: Fossil

May 30, 2013

I always am excited to mix in my jean jacket with my outfits because it somehow makes the look instantly young, fun, and put together. Perfect for this spring time weather. Paired my jean jacket over a sheer blouse and khaki shorts to keep the look simple and comfortable for a day at school and my internship.

In the Midst of Blooming
